How our questions are made

Our aim is a clear question with a defensible answer. We use different pipelines for statistical puzzles, researched trivia, sports geography, and games made by players.
Research and AI assistance
Some questions are generated from structured sports records. Others use AI services to research sources, draft wording, and check answers. Automated review is not the same as independent human fact-checking, and errors can get through.
Question checks
Depending on the game, publication checks cover source references, answer and choice consistency, repeated answers, confusing wording, and the scope of a statistic. Assistant instructions or requests for permission do not belong in a question. Failed checks can delay a game while items are retried or replaced.
Dates, seasons, and names
Statistics need a season and a scope, such as regular season or postseason. Changing facts should have an as-of date. Historical team and venue names should match the event being asked about. Report wording that leaves more than one reasonable answer.
Sports Globe
Globe questions pair a sports clue with a place and coordinates. Scores measure how close a guess is to that stored location. A map pin or venue boundary can still be imperfect; include a source and the correct location when reporting a problem.
Daily puzzles and practice
Shared daily editions use Eastern Time and stay tied to their published date. Practice rounds can select different questions. Mystery Athlete rotates among NFL, NBA, and soccer daily pools. We prepare upcoming daily puzzles in advance, but outages or failed quality checks can delay availability.
Results and difficulty
Daily 10 and Globe reports show explanations and available source links after completion. Community comparisons use first completed attempts for the same puzzle revision. Difficulty labels need at least 20 attempts per question; comparisons with other players need at least five other attempts. Smaller samples remain unrated or unavailable.
Community and host games
Creators can review generated drafts before publishing or adding them to a night. Manually written host questions receive basic format checks, not the full research pipeline. A creator is responsible for reviewing their game. House collections are attributed to AddictingSports.
Corrections
We investigate the published version and supporting evidence, then correct or withdraw affected content when appropriate. Changes to an answer may require a new revision so incompatible results are not compared.
